Bullock Construction Transforms Sheltered Homes in Oldham – Sure Group provides full M&E Service

The Private Finance Initiative 2 Sheltered Housing Scheme will transform over half of the council owned sheltered homes in Oldham. The scheme provides quality housing for older people, giving them the means to live independently for as long as possible. The scheme is a partnership between Oldham Council, Housing 21, Bullock Construction and Allied Irish Bank.

Jon Sharp is a Contract Manager for Bullock Construction. Jon has overall responsibility for delivery of the refurbishment of the Old Mill House, Old Mill Lane, Oldham. When asked about the Scheme Jon said "This is a scheme of 42 one and two bedroom flats. The transformation of the flats will include - improved internal layout allowing wheelchair access to some properties, improved accessibility through lifts to some flatted schemes, new, state of the art door entry and warden call systems, replacement doors, windows, heating systems, kitchens and bathrooms (to include level access showers), environmental and security work. Work began on site in October 2009. There is a lot of work to be done, and everyone is focused on completing this quality transformation by April 2010."

Bullock Construction is the lead Contractor, and Sure Group will provide full M&E systems. This includes heating, plumbing, ventilation, all electrical services including the warden call system, door entry, smoke detection/ alarm. The flats laundry and catering facilities are also included in the Scheme.
