A group of people from across North Wales took part in an innovative workshop, designed to give them a taste of what it would be like to have a career as a domestic gas engineer. The workshop was led by Clwyd Alyn Housing Association, and organised by ‘Sure Group’, The Housing Associations heating systems servicing contractor.

Commenting on the initiative, David Chisholm, Senior Asset Management Officer with Clwyd Alyn Housing Association said “The majority of those who attended are people who live within Clwyd Alyn’s Supported Living Schemes, so we are delighted that some of these young people would now like to pursue a career in gas engineering. Our Community Development Team is currently exploring ways in which this could happen via apprenticeships. I would like to say a special thank you to the Sure Group team and Ken Woods, Hybrid Gas & Electrical Training Centre, Aintree, Liverpool, for making the day such a great success.”

Darren Cunningham, Chief Executive, Sure Group said “It is important to the Sure Group that we get really involved in supporting the local community. If we can encourage people to choose gas engineering as a career, then it is all the better for the individual, the community and the industry. I am really pleased that the day went so well.”
